Our company is an all-round service provider in the field of motorsport, specializing in tire service and a trusted contact for numerous drivers from various areas of racing. For more than 35 years, we have been continuously adapting to the constant further development of racing tires by the manufacturers, which is the hallmark of our success in modern motorsport.
Our Crew Knüttel consists of a well-coordinated team of 13 permanent experts and a large number of dedicated temporary staff who are fully committed at weekends to cope with our extensive workload. Our head office in Rimbach forms the heart of our operations, supplemented by two further high-tech hall complexes in Mörlenbach and Zotzenbach.
Thanks to our many years of experience, we can react flexibly and unerringly to the constantly changing challenges of motorsport – a decisive advantage in this fast-moving industry.
Over 50 years of motorsport expertise
1984 – Foundation and early years
Crew Knüttel was founded in 1984 by Dieter Knüttel (1952-2014). Dieter Knüttel began with the sale of racing tires and steadily expanded the service. In order to meet the rapidly increasing demand, two service crews were soon working in the racing service. Due to the great interest, Knüttel rented a hall complex in Rimbach in 1985, right next to the legendary Zotzenbach hill climb circuit, and built a modern warehouse there.
Expansion and development
The headquarters in Rimbach was expanded with additional warehouse complexes in Mörlenbach and Zotzenbach in order to meet the increased requirements. Crew Knüttel now has 13 full-time employees and more than a dozen temporary workers who cope with the immense workload, especially at weekends. The vehicle fleet has grown steadily and now includes 15 service vans in MICHELIN colors.
1990s & 2000s – Successes in motorsport
Dieter Knüttel collected numerous successes in almost 50 years of motorsport: he won the German Automobile Hillclimb Championship twice (1988 and 2000), was runner-up five times and twice came third in this championship. He also achieved 41 overall touring car victories and 33 track records for touring cars on the mountain.
2000s – MICHELIN racing tire service
Since 2004, Crew Knüttel has been offering the MICHELIN racing tire service for circuit, mountain and slalom in Germany, which represents a significant expansion of the business.
2014 – A tragic year
Dieter Knüttel passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2014. His death was a great loss for the company and the motorsport community. Since then, Benjamin Knapp-Sauer and Andreas Weckbach have continued to run the company as Crew Knüttel Motorsport GmbH & Co KG in the spirit of the deceased founder.
2015 – Change of company name
On March 12, 2015, the company was renamed Crew Knüttel Motorsport GmbH in order to preserve the continuity and legacy of Dieter Knüttel.
2019 – Anniversaries and milestones
In 2019, Crew Knüttel celebrated several significant anniversaries: over 50 years of expertise in motorsport and 35 years in racing tire service. The continued expansion and success in motorsport are testament to the outstanding performance of the entire team.
Present day
Today, Crew Knüttel is a respected partner in motorsport. It looks after countless drivers from a wide range of disciplines, including hill climb, slalom and youngtimer racing, speedway, rallycross, touring cars, the European Sports Car Challenge, endurance championships, the Special Touring Car Trophy, the Porsche Sports Cup and GT racing. Its customer list includes renowned works teams and exclusive sports car manufacturers such as Ascari, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and many more.
